Survivors and Descendants Family Program: The Story of Simcha
Would you like to talk to your child about the Holocaust, but aren’t sure how? Join the Houston Holocaust Survivors and Descendants, together with Holocaust Museum Houston, for an innovative program for children ages 9-12 with a parent(s), guardian(s), and/or grandparent(s). We will view The Story of Simcha, a short film from Yad Vashem telling the true story of survivor Simcha Holzberg. The story is portrayed through animation which introduces students to key concepts in the history of the Holocaust, such as: the ghetto and the hardships it brought with it, but in a way that will avoid causing trauma. The program will also include activities and discussion about the film and the Holocaust as a whole. There will be an activity with chocolate after the film. Why chocolate? You will have to join us to find out.
