Act Now Receives Presidential Volunteer Service Award

January 1, 2020 – Act Now is an exciting new initiative of the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston. Our goal is to engage the Jewish community in revitalizing the greater Houston area. Through meaningful volunteering and learning opportunities, we provide programming that builds bridges, supports partner organizations and enhances community resiliency.

The Act Now initiative began in partnership with Repair the World and the Leadership Coalition for Jewish Service shortly after Hurricane Harvey. In the program’s first 18 months, more than 2,000 multi-generational volunteers contributed more than 24,000 hours of hands-on help for our community.

In recognition of our post-disaster response, the Act Now initiative has been awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.
