Join Sisterhood as well-known local artist Ellen Orseck presents a virtual multi-media program about Jewish women artists. The list of artists that Orseck will focus on includes Helen Frankenthaler, Louise Nevelson, Lee Krasner, Charlotte Salomon, among others. Whether their work is representational or abstract, artwork by these Jewish artists ties them to Jewish life and identity.
Orseck, currently a practicing artist and art instructor, was a finalist for the coveted Hunting Prize and was awarded a mural grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. She earned a master’s degree in painting from New York University and a master’s degree in museum education at George Washington University. Presently, Orseck is a studio art instructor at Rice University’s Glasscock School of Continuing Studies (GSCS) and at Watercolor Art Society, Houston (WASH). She shows her work at Carolyn Garcia Gallery, Flatland Gallery and Mother Dog Studios in Houston.
Please RSVP to the Sisterhood office at 713.529.5771, ext. 233 or sishood@emanuelhouston.org. There is no charge for this Zoom program, and log-in information will be sent closer to the program date.
