Spread kindness with local author and educator, Ellen Leventhal, and her new book, A Flood of Kindness.

Charlotte, a young girl, watches floodwaters rise in her home and is forced to evacuate to a shelter with her parents. Kind people she doesn’t know give her food, socks and shoes to keep her feet warm, and a place to sleep. As Charlotte adjusts to the shelter she grapples with feelings of anger and sadness. But as the days go by, one small act of kindness helps Charlotte realize that she has the power to help others, and only then does she begin to heal.

This is a Houston story, a Texas story, and ultimately, a universal story about the healing power of kindness.

Ellen will do a presentation for all children, and afterwards participants will have the opportunity to make kindness crafts or participate in a mitzvah writing workshop with Ellen. Learn the writing process from a professional author, from idea to publication, and go home with a book.
