Volunteerism & Community Advocacy

Social Action

The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston provides meaningful volunteering and learning opportunities that builds bridges, support partner organizations and enhance community resiliency.

Since its inception, our multi-generational volunteer force have contributed more than 24,000 hours of hands-on help for our community and our post-disaster response was recognized with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.

School’s Out, Help Out!

Make a difference in the community. School’s Out, Help Out! consists of meaningful multi-generational volunteer opportunities when public and/or Jewish day schools are closed.

These volunteer projects will be open for adults along with their children (or grandchildren) and provide them the opportunity to do a mitzvah, side-by-side with friends and neighbors, learn more about social action, and make a difference in our city.

There is no cost to attend the volunteer projects, but registration is required, and space is limited. School’s Out, Help Out! is a partnership between the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston and its Act Now and PJ Library initiatives, the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center and you.

We will update you with project dates for the 2020-21 school year when they are available.
