Proclamation Declares November 18-December 6 as “Shine a Light Week” in Houston
(December 3, 2021) – At this week’s Houston City Council Meeting, Mayor Sylvester Turner declared November 18-December 6 as “Shine a Light Week” in Houston. The proclamation was put forward by Councilmember Abbie Kamin at the request of National Black Empowerment Council to join with Jewish organizations to “Shine a Light” on antisemitism in all its modern-day forms. The Federation, along with partner organizations, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), American Jewish Committee (AJC), and the Jewish Education Project were acknowledged.
