PARENTS AND TEACHERS LEARN TO FOSTER A GROWTH MINDSET

January 6, 2020 – The Jewish Education Department hosts a number of workshops for both Day School and Congregational teachers. In January, the JED offered workshops for more than 30 parents and 160 teachers featuring Rabbi Chaim Ellis, LISW-S, on how to raise resilient children who can overcome adversity and challenges. The goal was to teach that intelligence is not fixed, rather it can be developed with the right mindset, improved effort, and hard work.

Parents who participated have children of all ages at multiple Houston schools. Teachers from Beth Yeshurun Day SchoolThe Shlenker SchoolTorah Day School of HoustonRobert M. Beren Academy, and The Emery/Weiner School were also able to take these lessons to create a culture of growth mindset in their schools.
