Federation and Beth Yeshurun host Rich Recht family Chanukah concert

December 10, 2019 — For families looking for an activity on Christmas day, join the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston’s PJ Library and Congregation Beth Yeshurun for a lively family Chanukah concert by Jewish musician, Rick Recht.

The concert, which is part of Recht’s “Free To Be” tour, will take place from 10-11 AM, on Wednesday, Dec. 25, at Congregation Beth Yeshurun. It is free and open to the community.

Children of all ages will enjoy songs from Recht’s hit albums “Look at Me!” and “Free to Be the Jew in Me”. Recht is the PJ Library National Celebrity Spokesperson and the top-touring Jewish artist today, performing more than 125 concerts each year across the country.

“One of the things absolutely I love about these children’s concerts is bringing together little kids, their parents and their grandparents in the same setting and creating a type of musical magic that excites everyone all at once,” Recht said.

His powerful performances have earned him a strong, loyal national fan base. Recht has become an icon for Jewish youth, elevating the medium of Jewish music as a powerful and effective tool for developing Jewish pride and identity. Not only is Recht a top Jewish performer, educator, and leader, but he is also the founder and Executive Director of Jewish Rock Radio, the first 24/7, Jewish rock internet radio station found at www.jewishrockradio.com.

The Chanukah Concert is one of several ways the Federation is engaging our community during the holiday. On Tuesday, Dec. 17, PJ Library kicked off celebrations at the Hanukah House.

At 9:30 AM this Friday, Dec. 20, 100 parents and children will gather at Hermann Park for second School’s Out, Help Out!, a volunteer service day when schools are out of session.

At 7:30 PM on Saturday, Dec. 28, young professionals can attend the YAD Chanukah Party, in coordination with Moishe House, Torch and J-Hype.
