Drawing on her vast cookbook collection, more than 6000 volumes, including more than 1000 Jewish cookbooks, Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett will present gems from this treasure, which she has amassed over the course of more than 50 years. Speaking from her kitchen in New York’s Soho, she will talk about how she formed her collection and what Jewish cookbooks – and her favorites, Yiddish cookbooks – can reveal about Jewish life and the role of women in the home and beyond.
