The mitzvot of tzedakah (righteousness), tikkun olam (repairing the world), and gemilut hasadim (acts of loving kindness), are just three of the 613 commandments found in the Torah, each of which we are instructed to fulfill-as individuals. No one can fulfill those commandments for us. And they are just three of the many reasons thousands of women across the Greater Houston Jewish community play such an important role in making a difference in Jewish lives.
The Woman's Campaign fulfills its mission in a variety of ways:
The Power of Women's Philanthropy.
Only you truly know which causes you care about most and how much you want to support them. |
It is not only your right, but your personal obligation to fulfill the mitzvahof tzedakahon your own behalf-no one can do it for you. |
Every gift counts-and every person counts. By making a gift in your own name, you are counted among those who have made the commitment to make a difference in the lives of our fellow Jews in need-here in Houston, in Israel, and around the world. |
Just as we model other important behaviors for our children-proper manners, respect for others, self-discipline, and the like-so must we model our responsibility to take care of those unable to care for themselves. |
It is up to each of us-men, women, and children alike-to take our place in the community and do whatever we can as individuals to ensure it remains strong and vibrant-today, and for generations to come. |
