The Houston Jewish Community Foundation's primary purpose is to obtain and administer capital and financial resources that benefit the Jewish community. It encourages lifetime and testamentary charitable gifts for the long-term financial security of the community and works to develop a permanent Foundation, which can serve as a perpetual source of funding for the various religious, charitable, educational, scientific, humanitarian and cultural needs of the Jewish people.  The Foundation strives to improve the quality of Jewish communal life by providing seed money for innovative programs, research, and study projects.  Through its many donor-advised funds, it distributes millions of dollars annually for the benefit of the entire community.  It forms a base of funding for emergency needs in the community and other activities, which might not otherwise have appropriate funding.  The Houston Jewish Community Foundation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston.
