The mission of the Greater Houston Chapter of the American Technion Society is to broaden people's interest in, knowledge of, and support for the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. The Technion is one of only seven scientific and technological institutes in the world with a medical school. The community is invited to attend meetings and seminars on progress and research at the Technion and hear lectures on breakthroughs in the scientific, technical, and medical arenas. In addition, the ATS sponsors several events during the year, including an annual luncheon, featuring the Dean of Students and two students from the Technion. The Greater Houston Chapter includes Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Fort Worth, Tulsa, El Paso, the Rio Grande Valley, and Louisiana. It is part of the Southern Region of the United States. There is a local Board of Directors, as well as a Southwest Region Board, which includes men and women interested in supporting the State of Israel and the Technion.
